See All ReviewsWe were driving from Crystal River to St. Petersburg and I was looking for a good burger to satisfy a craving set off by a photo in a hotel elevator. I found The Peeple Company on Google. It was 14 minutes off our path and well worth it! This rustic road side shop has about 4-6 booths, bar stools and more tables outside. My husband and I tend to share our meals out. We had an awesome, juicy bacon BBQ cheese burger and a Buffalo chicken salad. The chef was willing/ eager to accommodate my wishes for Grilled (not fried) chicken over a garden salad (instead of just romaine). She came out and asked if I'd like the chicken blackened as well. Sure! Our burger was hot and juicy. We could taste/smell the bacon in every bite (2 strips, I think ). The 2 onion rings were delicious and an unexpected treat. It came with fries that were hot in temperature and tasty! Iced tea and lemonade rounded out our meal. The staff was attentive and friendly. This is a great place if you're looking for a good burger joint! If we lived nearby, we'd be regulars. It was clear by the line of men placing take out orders, that local workmen come here often for their lunch.
Now this was a hole in the wall diner and OMG is it amazing! If you really want a good Home-cooked grilled burger and hot crispy fries this is the place to go. I got the regular burger and my husband got the double peeps burger with bacon all the way and he could barely finish it. The quality of meat is good and the flavor superior. And the sweet tea will make you pucker. I'll take this over fine dinng any day! A southern gem!
It's a bit of a dive, and not cheap . . . But we hadn't had a burger in a LONG time and it was totally worth the wait. I think our burgers were about $13 each. Thick patty. Perfectly cooked. Not too greasy (just greasy enough!). Fries were hot and crispy. Sweet tea was delicious. Friendly staff - and friendly customers! When I'm ready for a burger, this will be on the list.
